Here are the instructions on how to change the wording or the photo in the boxes on the ‘What Scouts Do’ page that appears under ‘Info for Parents’.
To Change a photo
- Make sure your new photo is 800px wide by 450px high – this is very important. If you do not have photo editing software, download GIMP GNU Image Manipulation Program – its free and very good
- On the dashboard menu select ‘Media’
- Upload your new image using ‘select files’
- Once the image is loaded into the library (it will be the first image on the top line), single click the image which will open ‘attachment details’
- scroll down to where there is a button ‘Copy URL to clipboard’, and click it. You will then see a mesage saying the url has been copied.
- Close the media ibrary using the X in the right hand corner of the pop-up screen
- On the dashboard menu select ‘Variable Values’
- Scroll down until you find an entry called ‘Parents Scout Image’ (where Scout could be Beaver, Cub, Explorer, Network or Volunteer as required)
- Click ‘Edit’
- Do NOT change the Variable Name
- Click in the field called ‘Value’, press CTRL A then CTRL V – this will overwrite the existing value with the one you copied at step 5 above. You can use the mouse to select the old value, and then CTRL V or whatever method you are comfortable to paste from the clipboard
- Press ‘Save’
- When you refresh the ‘What scouts do pae’ your new image will be displayed.
To Change the wording
- Decide on your new wording – it must be beteen 52 and 90 characters including spaces
- On the dashboard menu select ‘Variable Values’
- Scroll down until you find an entry called ‘Parents Scouts’ (where Scouts could be Beavers, Cubs, Explorers, Network or Volunteers as required)
- Click ‘Edit’
- Do NOT change the Variable Name
- Click in the field called ‘Value’, press CTRL A and ‘Delete’ to remove the exising entry
- Type in your new wording (or paste it)
- Press ‘Save’
- When you refresh the ‘What scouts do page’ your new image will be displayed.
