If you were a Beaver, Cub or Scout, you’ll already know that being a Scout is all about completing awards at every step of the journey.
As an Explorer, there are more chances to soar than ever before, as you’ll be introduced to a whole new range of Top Awards.
You can work towards as many awards as you like, at your own pace.

King’s Scout Award
The King’s Scout Award is the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members and comprises of a variety of activities to complete.
The Kings’s Scout Award (KSA) is linked closely to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award and it is worth working on the two awards together.
To gain the award you must complete all of the requirements before your 25th birthday.
Chief Scout’s Awards
The Chief Scout’s Awards are the highest award available in each of the sections; Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, and Scout Network.
Chief Scouts Bronze (Beavers)
Chief Scouts Silver (Cubs)
Chief Scouts Gold (Scouts)
Chief Scouts Platinum (Explorers)
Chief Scouts Diamond (Explorers/Network)
These are the highest award a Beaver/Cub/Scout/Explorer can earn. To complete it, you need to earn a minimum number of Activity or Staged Activity Badges of your choice, as well as all of the Challenge Awards. The Chief Scout’s Award shows that you’ve given new things a go, played your part, and stuck it out, even when the going got tough. It’s a really big achievement, and you should be proud.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
As a member of The Scout Association you can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as well as Scouting Awards. This is done through being a member of an Explorer Scout Unit or the Scout Network.
There are three award levels to achieve:
Bronze – for those aged 14+ years*
Silver – for those aged 15+ years*
Gold – for those aged 16+ years
* If a young person isn’t 14 or 15 yet, but is in the school year in which their peer group turns 14 or 15, they can start their respective award. All activities must be completed by a young person’s 25th birthday.
Explorer Belt
The Explorer Belt is the challenge of a lifetime, open to Explorer Scouts aged 16 and over and members of the Scout Network.
It is a chance to take part in a ten-day expedition that brings a real understanding of a different country, its people and way of life.
Scouts of the World Award
Scouts of the World Award (SOWA) is a Scout Network only award that gives Scout Network members the chance to undertake a project of their choice within the themes of Peace, Environment and Sustainability and take action on their chosen issue.
Through your Scouts of the World Award journey, you’ll develop skills and knowledge that will empower you to undertake a project that will make a sustainable impact on your local, national or international community, while developing your personal skills.
You’ll learn skills including independence, team work, project planning, time management and communication skills, while gaining an understanding for global issues and international relations. You don’t have to go abroad to complete your Scouts of the World Award. Local and national projects are acceptable, as long as all requirements of the award are being met.
Digital Badges
There are 395 virtual badges currently available to achieve from a wide variety of activities, events and countries.
These are all the virtual badges that can be achieved through participation in projects and events.
